I said goodbye to Mat’ the nice Airbnb host, and headed to the station, going through the wooded park of Keszthely one last time. I liked this little town.  For a few days now, tons and tons of white foamy seeds have been flying around all over the place, dancing in the wind like some summer snow. It’s quite majestic. And yet, somehow, my allergies haven’t kicked in at all yet. Awesome! Now I know what to do every spring: flee to Central Europe where the plants I’m allergetic to are not found.

The train followed the same path that on my way in two days ago, through the Southern shore of Lake Balaton, but this time I have a window on the correct side! I’ll miss the Hungarian sea, it felt like going on holidays. While being on holidays.

In Budapest, I only have less than an hour to change to a different train station. I exit the Deli station and take the metro.

After a second, shorter metro, Iarrive to Nyugati station with 20 min to spare. However, I don’t have any (salty) food on me, and I won’t reach my destination until 5 PM. So I went to get some food, dealt with a ccashier who didn’t understand the simplest english, went somewhere else, had to wait five minutes, and then had to frantically walk to the train. I was even five minutes early so I needn’t have worried. Transport stress is the last thing I want to get into me on this trip!

The ride to Debrecen was uneventful and I fell half asleep for most of it. Although something did happen: for the first time since Paris, I am not carrying any food other than some cereal bars for breakfast. I finished everything I had today and yesterday.

In Debrecen, I took an old tram towards my airbnb. At almost 40 €, it’s the most expensive night in a long time, but I didn’t find any cheaper accomodation in town. It was time to replenish my food bag, so I ended up doing pretty big grocery. The mercy on my shoulders was short-lived, and I’ll have to fight against gravity some more. Come at me, Isaac! I’m better than you! 

Although I did get KOed by the surprisingly large dinner, ate under the watchful eye of an irate pirate.
