Kitchen-sized Swiss knife 🇨🇭
04/06/2024
🇨🇭 Neuendorf SO → Egerkingen → Luzern → Bern → Visp → Saint-Léonard VS
Nicolas and I left the comfort of the airbnb to walk back to Egerkingen station, which was not an hour walk away as Maps suggested, but half of it. RIP those five euros from the bus yesterday.
We’re doing the same quick trip as yesterday to Olten, where we have only three minutes to change platform and jump in the next train.
This one also brings me back on my tracks, all the way to Luzern [Lucerne] and its beautiful lakes. We visited the city a bit, mostly seeing the famous bridge and the lion statue, an impressive rock carving in a cliffside. Poor old cat seem to express quite some dismay and confusion. But we spent most of our time walking and sitting and talking on the lakeshore. It’s a beautiful day for lakeside laziness. We were quite in love with the place, but we had to move on.
The first train back was a high-speed double-decker that took us to Bern. Again, we only had a few minutes to throw ourselves in the next train. So I spent a grand total of seven minutes in the Swiss capital city. So I’m quite qualified to judge it.
The next double-decker was pretty full, but took us still comfortably and swiftly to Visp, in the South of Switzerland. Already, the mountains look very promising for tomorrow grand adventure!
We end today’s trip with a regional train headed Westward, and stop in the small town of Saint-Léonard VS [Saint-Léonard, Switzerland], where our airbnb lies just a minute from the station. And oh boy what a place! Pretty much what you’d expect from a Swiss over-equipped house: there are every possible things you need, and with quality and innovations you’d never even think existed. Kind of a swiss knife but it’s a kitchen.
Here’s last week’s video:
