Today I’m changing island. I’m going from Malta to Gozo, so I stay in Malta, but in Gozo. Not in Malta, which is also in Malta, like Gozo.

Luckily enough, there’s a direct bus from Tas-Sliema [Sliema] to the ferry terminal all the way to the North of the island, in Mellieħa. It took over an hour drive to get there, but I could finally see a bit of Maltese countryside. It’s bare and dry, but has a certain beauty to it. The bus went by the coast several times, giving great glimpses of cliff-side villages on the edge of water. We also climbed a few steep hills. I don’t think there are any flat areas in the country.

The ferry was much shorter, and so pleasant sitting outside, with th fresh wind sweeping, as we sailed past the island of Comino, the smallest of the main three islands, where the famous Blue Lagoon is located.

Typically, the bus out from the ferry terminal in Għajnsielem left in front of me. With 40 min to kill, I ate a bit, and waited. This was supposed to be kind of a rest day, and as such I don’t want to walk too much.

Another 45 min to cross the beautiful Gozo island from South to North, and here I am in the early afternoon in Żebbuġ. I check-in at the hostel, and take a few hours of rest while my phone slowly charges. Note to anyone wanting to visit Malta: they only use British plugs, so take an adaptator. It makes the charging quite lengthy though.

It was almost 5 PM when I put on my swimsuit and went for a swim on the tiny beach. The water was warmer than in Venezia [Venice], and very pleasant to swim in. It was also quite wavy, as there were a lot of winds today.

Later, I walked along the cliffs at the North of the town. The view was amazing! The waves were getting pretty damn big, exploding in great splashes against the rock. Now swimming there would be screaming suicide for sure! All this under a pinkish red setting sun, a perfect end of day.
