Porto is ridiculous 🇵🇹
02/07/2024
🇵🇹 Porto → Vila Nova de Gaia → Porto → Vila Nova de Gaia → Porto
Today is what I think is a well-earned break day. I haven’t had one of those since Borgo Maggiore, exactly a month ago.
I still walked up to and on the famous Dom Luís I Bridge, the iconic double-deck bridge. While its lower deck is a road and pedestrian crossing, near the water level, the higher deck stand at a whopping 45 m above the river Douro, and serves as pedestrian, but also metro crossing! Porto and its neighbour Vila Nova de Gaia, are ridiculously jaw-dropping cities. Built on steep cliffs on the Douro banks, overlooking its meanders. Proper insanity.
Of course, I took the metro back on the bridge, and even went on for a bit of shopping.
But then, pretty much all day was spent in my hostel bed, although I was quite productive, as you can see with the video below, and some other stuff.
I went back out before sunset, grabbed a kebap, crossed back the bridge on foot, and ate within sight of it.
What a place!
