Le retour de l'enfant terrible 🇨🇵
07/07/2024
🇨🇵 Gargas → L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue → Avignon → Nîmes → Narbonne → 🏠
I crashed rather early in the party, slipping discreetly. I don’t know why exactly, I don’t feel in the mood to party tonight. I need time alone. I hope Pierre will understand.
He seemed ok this morning, when he kindly drove me to the train station of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. We said our farewell, and I was back travelling. For one last day.
The first regional train took me to Avignon, my birthplace actually.
I had just time to grab a bit of food, and I was soon onboard another regional train for Nîmes. It’s my second time in this train station on this trip, but still no time to visit the city.
It’s that time of the year where kids go in those group holidays thing, so a high-speed train was taking a hell lot of time at the platform I was supposed to embark. Finally, all kids were gone, and our low-cost high-speed double-decker Ouigo train could enter.
That’s it, that’s the last time I’m boarding a train for this trip… I’m on the upper deck and with a window, perfect except for the fact I had to have my big backpack between my legs. But I was alone the whole trip so no issues.
We swept through Southern France, on the Mediterrannean coast. There was a pretty noisy group of people, including one that even I could diagnosed with ADHD in the dark, who apparently recently found out about the expression « enfant terrible » and was using it every five freaking minutes.
Finally, with 20 min delay, a very fitting end for this adventure, we reach Narbonne station. Ground zero. The Origin. I’m quite emotional as I step out of this 337th and last train, and, taking my time, step on Narbonne ground.
It’s almost done.
I find my mom waiting for me. We get in the car, and half an hour later, we reached her house, where I will find back Loky and Lylou, my cats, all my stuff, and my old life.
There are so much more things I want to say and post here. Lots of it being stats. So keep an eye on this website, it won’t go anywhere.
This has been the trip of my life, some lows but so many more highs highs highs. I want to thank everyone who bothered to join me for a bit: Kévin, Alex, Duha (twice!), Kamel, Nicolas, and of course my parents. Thanks also to the few people that sent me spontaneous messages. I couldn’t have kept going for that long without moral support. Also shoutout to my TM friends that I finally met: Matthew, Ilkka, Kamil and Petr.
We stop the car.
I cross the gate.
It’s over.
Train count: + 3
Total: 337

Bienvenue chez toi !
Heureux de t’avoir parmi nous à nouveau !
Merci Jean ! 🙂
