🇦🇩 Les Escaldes → Andorra la Vella → Les Escaldes
Even though last evening I fell asleep before 10 PM, I didn’t get out of bed before 10 AM. A very welcome lazy morning! I had thought, long before the trip started, to take the Tobotronc: an alpine rollercoaster, a one-person small car on rails going through the foresty mountainside. There are no trains or trams or whatever in Andorra, so this was the closest rail experience I could get.
However, it’s 40 € (for a full day at Naturland, which offers a lot more outdoors activity, though!), but mostly it seemed quite nightmarish and expensive to get to. In my infinite laziness, I opted out. That wouldn’t have counter as a train anyway.
Instead, I did some planning for Spain, and went for a short hike.
Well, it still took four hours, and it was much, much steeper than I anticipated. Views were very nice though, from about 1,700 m high. When I say steep, I mean it. When I reached the last stretch on the way down, I realized how freaking vertical this was. I couldn’t believe I managed to climb it, and now I understood why I struggled that much. I actually had to run in this last part, walking just wouldn’t do! It was a funny sight, that expensive chalet on top of rocky ridges, a mastertarium for rich person wanting to see the World from above in their golden prison.
Quickly went in town for some grocery (but mostly to get some rare Andorra coins) and a deserved Guiness, and I called it a day.
