🇷🇴 Sighișoara

I finally heard and saw people at the hostel this morning! Only staff though, still no signs of other guests. I sat drinking a hot chocolate, writing yesterday’s blog in the sun, and left to explore Sighișoara. The city is beautiful, with its medieval core citadel, churches, cobbled streets, and the covered staircase to the basilica.

To go down into the city center, I tried my luck at several small paths in the forested hillside, but all were deadends. So I walked back to the old town, and walked around its walls.

After a quick lunch, I decided to go for a countryside walk. Sighișoara is cute, but quite small. At the trailhead, I saw a sign that was quite scarier than vampires: « Beware of bears after sunset! » This is the real deal. You don’t want to met a mama bear protecting her younglings. Being Spring, I was a bit worried that this could happen, and I jumped at every sound in the woods. Crazy! Nine years ago, when I did met a rather young bear in the United States, I didn’t worry at all with the possibility of an encounter. Anyway, it was early afternoon, so no need to worry much.

I arrived to a grassy plateau, ans stayed for an hour, reading The Lord of the Rings under the shade of a tree like I was in the Shire. Which Romania might be the closest European country to.

Not much to report after that. Came back early, took a needed shower, stayed in while it rained, got out for dinner, and got lazy to do anything more. I left the hostel booking for tomorrow. That’s the attitude!

Here’s the video for week number 10!
