Less béton 🇦🇱

🇦🇱 Tirana → Lezha

The party being twice as big now that Kamel joined, we explored the central area of Tirana together. Honestly, it’s not really beautiful. Mostly huge high-rises of concrete, brutal soviet style. But there are a few good buildings, like the main mosque, based on İstanbul [Istanbul]’s Hagia Sophia, only much smaller. To be honest, even the « Pyramid » is not too bad. In itself it’s just a concrete pyramid, but they done a kind of labyrinth with stairs going up it. And it offers a decent view of the surroundings.

After a good morning of sight-seeing, we headed towards the bus terminal, while being cooked alive in an urban bus. There we quickly found a transport for our next destination: Lezha [Lezhë]. The idea was to go to Laçi [Laç] to take the train on Tuesday, but we couldn’t find an accomodation.

We still had none though when we arrived in Lezha… As soon as we left the bus, we booked an airbnb in the nearby seaside resort. And we decided to go there by foot, because why not? It was only an hour and a half there, and after that, we had the reward of having a drink on the beach. What a splendid coast line, with those mountains throwing themselves into the water! What a shame that this part is now being more and more built-up with awful tall appartment blocks and hotels.

After getting our airbnb (the host, the legend, offered us a bottle of local red wine!), we went out for dinner, but I picked the WORST possible restaurant possible. That was the single most DISGUSTING pizza I’ve ever eaten! At least we had the magnificent sunset to gaze upon, colouring the waves in golden light.

I am exhausted. I’ve walked 87 km this week, and between 14 and 17 in the last three days… And it’s not gonna stop soon! I know Kamel will shoot me again with some crazy hikes idea.
