It’s a very nice weather this morning in Dublin for the ninth day. The Sun is piercing through heavy white clouds for the control of the sky, while mist is rising from the wet ground. But I’m not staying long, as I take the tram to the Connolly train station.

Even though Dublin was a bit of a deception, I liked the Republic of Ireland quite a bit, and I had the craìch. It was not the best experience because of the omnipresent rain, but then that was expected in February. I hope to come back some day in Spring or Summer for a roadtrip through the Irish wilderness.

The ride towards Belfast is beautiful. First we get close to the coast, with some small cliffs watching over the sea, then we get more inland, crossing some hills that reminds me more of Wales than Ireland. Talking of which…

Hello United Kingdom!

The second British leg of the Tour will be much longer, with a Scotland tour and a run down the country. Spoilers…

Belfast is also my first laundry stop. It’s a bit expensive for the few clothes I put in the washer, but eh, I don’t have that much stuff in my bag. With that done I went for a lunch and a stroll. My airbnb is further South, so I had a walk in the less frequented part of the city.

After dropping my bag, since the weather was really nice today, I went for a long walk towards downtown. Now, to be honest, Belfast is not a name that exactly attracted me that much. However, it turns out the city is quite pleasant to walk in and watch. Even the modern commercial center is well fitted in the old town, seemlessly transitioning from a pedestrian road, and into a mall before you even realize it. And all those all industrial revolution red brick buildings, wow! Another testimony that should always try to seek & destroy your preconceived ideas.

On the way back, I vainly tried to find hand sanitizer. I tried SIX shops. None of them had any… I know covid is over but jeez, how hard can that be? Also by 17:30 all pharmacies were closed.

It’s my first night with my own room, alone, so I made the best of it and listened to some lovely heavy metal for a few hours.
