🇦🇹 Innsbruck → 🇮🇹 Brennero → Verona → Venezia → Treviso → Silea

The day started wh… Wait, no. I actually started before the day. 4 o’clock in the god damn morning when the alarm rung. I quickly stopped it to not bother my dormmate, and somehow managed to get up immediately (stuff that I usually call black magic). Everything was already packed, such as I only had to swiftly get my clothes on (and my coat, for the first time in ages!) and leave as discreetly as possible.

I did so well, that I was even 10 min in advance for the 4:17 bus. I didn’t take the 4:47 one, just in case something went amiss with the bus and I would need to walk for 45 min to make the connection. It arrived on time though, so I had plenty of time to take an early coffee and chocolate croissant before jumping on the first train of the day.

It left at 5:19 from Innsbruck, towards Brennero [Brenner, South Tyrol]. Somehow right now I was wide awake and full of energy, and I’m glad I was. Because this ride was AMAZING. It was the high mountain epicness I was expecting from yesterday to be honest.

Ciao Italia!

Technically for the second time on this trip, but the first proper one, and certainly not the last! I’ve been to Italy plenty of time before too.

Only 10 min to change train at the border station of Brennero, for the longest leg of the day: 3 h 15 min towards Verona. At this timeof the day and year and this altitude, I actually got my gloves out for the first time since my first visit to Austria two months ago…

Again, a thrilling ride in the mighty Alps, that slowly transformed in a gentle river cruise bordered on both sides by high cliffs in the distance. The rocks passed from dark brown to white, and the terrain got flatter. The day was bright when we got in Verona, where I got rid of the gloves, the coat and the sweater. Talk about a temperature shock!

No time to visit Verona this time, as I board the third train, a double decker to Venezia [Venice] for an hour.

Even though Venezia will be our destination for the next few days, I don’t have time to linger here right now. Only 10 min to throw myself in the last train, an other double decker, for a short ride Northwards to Treviso.

On the platform, I was reunited with Duha the rebel of Babylon (well, Turkey, close enough), who actually arrived faster than me from Toulouse. But she cheated, she flew.

We had lunch and a walk around the super cute center of Treviso for a couple hours, then took the bus to the airbnb, in the nearby small town of Silea. We were greeted by two adorable cute cats, very cuddly.

And we both crumbled appart. After the short night we both had (she woke up at 5:30!), we needed a good nap.

We just went out for pizza in the evening, and slept some more.

Train count: + 4
Total: 242
